Description

Delicious and nutritious airfryer cauliflower and cheese tots that are perfect for baby-led weaning. These crunchy, cheesy bites are made with steamed cauliflower, oat flour, and mild cheddar, creating a wholesome snack that’s easy to hold and packed with flavor. Cooked quickly in the airfryer, they provide a healthy alternative to traditional fried tots and are ideal for introducing babies to new textures and tastes.

Ingredients

Scale

Vegetables

  • 1 head cauliflower, steamed and finely chopped (with liquid squeezed out)

Spices and Seasonings

  • 1 tsp garlic granules
  • Black pepper, to season

Flours and Grains

  • 1 cup oat flour (blended oats)

Dairy & Eggs

  • 1/2 cup mild cheddar cheese (or goat cheese)
  • 1 egg

Oils

  • Drizzle of olive oil

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: Add the steamed and finely chopped cauliflower, garlic granules, oat flour, mild cheddar cheese, egg, and black pepper to a large mixing bowl. Using a spoon, stir all ingredients thoroughly until fully combined into a consistent mixture.
  2. Shape the Tots: Take a tablespoonful of the mixture and shape it with your hands into rounds or small tot shapes. Place each shaped tot onto a plate, preparing them all before cooking.
  3. Add Olive Oil: Lightly drizzle a very small amount of olive oil over the shaped tots to help achieve a crispy texture during cooking.
  4. Airfry the Tots: Preheat your airfryer to 200ºC (approximately 390ºF). Cook the tots in the airfryer for 8 to 10 minutes until they are golden and crispy on the outside.
  5. Serve: Once cooked, serve the cauliflower and cheese tots warm alongside a baby-friendly dip and a side of fresh strawberries for a complete and nutritious baby-led weaning meal.

Notes

  • Ensure the cauliflower is well drained to avoid soggy tots.
  • Oat flour can be substituted with other gluten-free flours if preferred.
  • Adjust the cooking time depending on your airfryer model to prevent overcooking or undercooking.
  • These tots can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days and reheated in the airfryer for best crispness.
  • Suitable for babies who are comfortable handling soft finger foods and have started solids safely.
