Description
These pan-fried scones are a delightful treat, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Made with Augason Farms’ Honey White Bread, Scone & Roll Mix, they’re perfect for breakfast or as a snack, especially when served warm with butter and honey.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 tablespoons instant yeast
- 2¼ cups warm water
- ⅓ cup vegetable oil
- 6 cups Augason Farms Honey White Bread, Scone & Roll Mix
Instructions
- Dissolve Yeast: In a large mixing bowl, dissolve the instant yeast in warm water.
- Add Oil and Mix: Add the vegetable oil and the bread mix to the yeast mixture. Knead until the dough is smooth and elastic. If using an electric mixer with a dough hook, mix on medium speed for 10 to 12 minutes.
- Rest Dough: Cover the dough with a towel and let it rest for 20 minutes.
- Prepare for Frying: Roll out the dough and cut it into 24 pieces.
- Heat Oil: Preheat 2 inches of oil in a frying pan to 375°F (190°C).
- Fry Scones: Fry the dough pieces until they are puffy and golden brown on each side.
- Serve: Serve the scones warm with butter and honey.
Notes
- Ensure the oil is at the correct temperature to achieve a crispy exterior without absorbing too much oil.
- These scones are best enjoyed fresh but can be reheated in a toaster oven to regain their crispiness.
