Description

Enjoy a warm and comforting Baked Sweet Potato topped with a luscious cinnamon butter spread that combines sweetness and spice for a perfect side dish or snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Sweet Potatoes

  • 4 medium sweet potatoes, scrubbed and dried

Cinnamon Butter

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to prepare for baking the sweet potatoes.
  2. Prepare Sweet Potatoes: Pierce each sweet potato several times with a fork to allow steam to escape during baking. Place them directly on the oven rack or on a baking sheet.
  3. Bake Sweet Potatoes: Bake the sweet potatoes for 45 to 60 minutes until they are very tender when pierced with a knife, indicating they are fully cooked.
  4. Make Cinnamon Butter: While the sweet potatoes bake, combine the softened unsalted butter, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt in a small bowl. Mix until the mixture is smooth and well blended.
  5. Cool and Slice: Remove the sweet potatoes from the oven and allow them to cool slightly so they can be handled safely.
  6. Serve: Slice each sweet potato open lengthwise and fluff the inside with a fork. Top generously with the prepared cinnamon butter. Serve warm for best flavor.

Notes

  • For extra richness, add a drizzle of maple syrup or a pinch of nutmeg to the cinnamon butter.
  • This recipe can be made using dairy-free butter to accommodate dietary restrictions.
