  • Author: Thomas Culino
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 12 sliders 1x

Description

These French Dip Sliders are a bite-sized version of the classic French dip sandwich, featuring tender roast beef, melted Swiss cheese, and caramelized onions on soft Hawaiian rolls. Baked to golden perfection with a savory butter glaze and served with a rich au jus dipping sauce, these sliders are perfect for parties, game nights, or an easy family dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Sliders:

    • 12 Hawaiian rolls (or slider buns)
    • 1 pound deli-style roast beef, thinly sliced
    • 6 slices Swiss cheese, halved
    • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
    • 2 tablespoons butter
    • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
    • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
    • ½ teaspoon dried thyme (optional)

    For the Butter Glaze:

    • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
    • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
    • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
    • ½ teaspoon dried parsley
    • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
    • ½ teaspoon sesame seeds (optional)

    For the Au Jus Sauce:

    • 1 ½ cups beef broth
    • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
    • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
    • ½ teaspoon onion powder
    • Salt & black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat & Prepare the Sliders:

    • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Caramelize the Onions:

    • In a skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons butter.
    • Add sliced onions and cook until golden and caramelized (about 10 minutes).
    • Stir in Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and thyme. Remove from heat.
  3. Assemble the Sliders:

    • Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half, keeping them connected. Place the bottom half in the baking dish.
    • Layer half of the Swiss cheese, followed by roast beef, caramelized onions, and the remaining Swiss cheese.
    • Place the top half of the rolls over the fillings.
  4. Make the Butter Glaze & Bake:

    • In a small bowl, mix melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, parsley, Dijon mustard, and sesame seeds.
    • Brush generously over the sliders.
    • Cover with foil and bake for 15 minutes, then uncover and bake for 5 more minutes until golden brown.
  5. Prepare the Au Jus Sauce:

    • In a small saucepan, heat beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper over medium heat.
    • Simmer for 5 minutes, then pour into small serving bowls.
  6. Serve & Enjoy:

    • Slice the sliders apart and serve warm with au jus dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Use provolone or mozzarella instead of Swiss cheese for a different flavor.
  • Add horseradish or Dijon mustard to the sliders for an extra kick.
  • Store leftovers in the fridge and reheat in the oven for the best texture.
  • Serve with a side of crispy fries or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
