Ingredients
Scale
Brownie Base
- 1 box brownie mix (or homemade brownie mix)
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup water
French Silk Topping
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 6 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking pan with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy removal of the brownies.
- Mix and Bake Brownies: Prepare the brownie batter following the package instructions, combining the brownie mix with eggs, vegetable oil, and water. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 20-25 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Cool Brownies: Remove the brownies from the oven and allow them to cool completely in the pan to ensure the topping will set properly.
- Heat Cream: In a saucepan, gently heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it starts to simmer, being careful not to boil.
- Melt Chocolate: Pour the hot cream over the semi-sweet chocolate chips in a heatproof bowl. Stir vigorously until the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is smooth.
- Add Butter and Vanilla: Stir in the butter and vanilla extract to the chocolate mixture. Allow it to cool slightly to thicken but not harden.
- Spread Topping: Evenly spread the cooled chocolate mixture over the completely cooled brownies, creating a luxurious silky layer.
- Chill to Set: Refrigerate the brownies for at least 2 hours to allow the chocolate topping to fully set and become firm.
- Serve: Before serving, dust the top with powdered sugar for an elegant finish.
Notes
- For best results, make sure the brownies are completely cooled before applying the chocolate topping to prevent melting.
- You can substitute semi-sweet chocolate chips with dark or milk chocolate based on your preference.
- If you prefer a thicker chocolate layer, increase the amount of chocolate chips and heavy cream proportionally.
- Store brownies in an airtight container refrigerated for up to 3 days for optimal freshness.
