Description

Garbage Bread is a savory, stuffed bread loaf filled with a flavorful blend of ground beef, bacon, Velveeta, and cheddar cheese wrapped in pizza dough. This easy-to-make recipe combines hearty ingredients with a golden crust, perfect for an indulgent appetizer or a satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat and Cheese Filling

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ½ cup cooked chopped bacon
  • 1 Tbsp McCormick Grill Mates Hamburger seasoning
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 8 oz Velveeta cheese, cubed
  • 1½ cup shredded cheddar cheese

Dough and Topping

  • 1 (13.8-oz) can pizza dough
  • Everything bagel seasoning, for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425ºF and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prepare for baking the bread.
  2. Cook Ground Beef: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until no longer pink, then drain any excess grease to keep the filling from being too oily.
  3. Combine Filling Ingredients: In a large bowl, mix the cooked ground beef, chopped cooked bacon, hamburger seasoning, Worcestershire sauce, and Velveeta cubes. Stir gently until the Velveeta starts melting and everything is evenly combined.
  4. Prepare Dough: Open the can of pizza dough and roll it out into a 15×10-inch rectangle on a clean, flat surface.
  5. Assemble Bread: Spread the meat and cheese mixture evenly over the pizza dough, then sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
  6. Roll and Seal: Starting from the long side of the rectangle, carefully roll the dough jelly-roll style. Pinch the edges firmly to seal the filling inside and prevent leakage during baking.
  7. Prepare for Baking: Place the rolled loaf seam-side down on the parchment-lined baking sheet. Sprinkle the top generously with everything bagel seasoning for added flavor and texture.
  8. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15 to 18 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and cooked through.
  9. Cool and Serve: Let the garbage bread cool for 5 to 10 minutes on a wire rack before slicing. This resting time allows the filling to set, making it easier to cut and enjoy.

Notes

  • You can substitute Velveeta with another creamy cheese like cream cheese or a processed cheese if unavailable.
  • Feel free to add chopped onions, green peppers, or jalapeños to the meat mixture for extra flavor and spice.
  • To make cleanup easier, line your baking sheet with parchment or aluminum foil.
  • This bread is best served warm for gooey melted cheese and a soft crust.
  • Everything bagel seasoning can be replaced with sesame seeds or poppy seeds as preferred.
