Description

This Garlic Herb Honey Butter Roasted Chicken recipe delivers a perfectly crispy and flavorful whole chicken with a delicious blend of garlic, herbs, and honey butter. Roasted to juicy perfection, it’s an easy and impressive meal ready in just about an hour.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 1 whole roasting chicken, around 3-4 lbs

Garlic Herb Honey Butter

  • 6 Tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tsp Nates 100 percent Pure Honey
  • 2 tsp lemon pepper
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 Tbsp kosher salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare the chicken. Preheat your oven to 450 degrees F. Place your chicken in a 9 x 13 inch baking pan and pat it dry thoroughly with paper towels to ensure crisp skin.
  2. Make and apply the garlic herb honey butter. In a bowl, whip together the softened butter, honey, lemon pepper, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and kosher salt. Rub this flavorful mixture evenly over the entire chicken, covering all surfaces.
  3. Initial high-temperature roasting. Roast the chicken uncovered at 450 degrees F for 10 minutes. This step helps start browning and crisping the skin.
  4. Lower heat and continue roasting. Reduce the oven temperature to 350 degrees F. Continue roasting for an additional 50-60 minutes or until the chicken breast’s internal temperature reaches 160 degrees F. Halfway through, cover the chicken legs loosely with foil to prevent overcooking while the rest finishes roasting.
  5. Rest before serving. Remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for 10-15 minutes. This helps juices redistribute, resulting in a juicy and tender chicken when sliced.

Notes

  • Use a meat thermometer to check doneness accurately; chicken should reach 165°F before eating, but resting will raise the temp slightly from 160°F.
  • Patting the chicken dry before applying the butter mixture ensures crispy skin.
  • Covering the legs with foil midway prevents them from drying out while the breast finishes cooking.
  • Letting the chicken rest after cooking enhances juiciness.
  • Adjust seasonings in the butter mixture to taste for a personalized flavor twist.
