Scale
Dip Base
- 8 ounces Feta Cheese (block feta recommended)
- 8 ounces Cream Cheese (1 package)
- 3 Tablespoons Extra-Virgin Olive Oil
- 1/2 Lemon (juiced, about 1 1/2 Tablespoons)
- 1/2 teaspoon Oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon Basil
- 1/2 teaspoon Pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes
- 1 teaspoon Salt
Vegetable Topping
- 12 to 16 ounces Grape Tomatoes (sliced in half)
- 1 Hot House Cucumber (sliced)
- 2 Tablespoons Red Onion (diced)
- Kalamata Olives (optional)
- 1 to 2 Tablespoons Extra-Virgin Olive Oil
- Salt and Pepper (to taste)
Serving
- Pita Chips or Crostinis (for serving)
Instructions
- Prepare the Feta Base: Add the feta cheese, cream cheese, lemon juice, 3 tablespoons olive oil, basil, oregano, red pepper flakes, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon pepper to a food processor or mixing bowl. Blend or mix thoroughly until the mixture is completely smooth, creamy, light, fluffy, and spreadable. Be sure to scrape down the sides as needed to incorporate all ingredients evenly.
- Prepare the Vegetable Topping: In a separate bowl, combine the halved grape tomatoes, sliced cucumber, diced red onion, and Kalamata olives if using. Toss these vegetables with 1 to 2 tablespoons olive oil, salt, and pepper to taste. Adjust seasoning as needed for balanced flavor.
- Assemble the Dip: Spread the whipped feta mixture generously onto a serving platter or a shallow bowl. Use the back of a spoon to create swoops and swirls for a visually appealing presentation.
- Add the Vegetable Mixture: Spoon the fresh vegetable topping evenly over the whipped feta base. Drizzle lightly with olive oil and optionally finish with extra herbs or red pepper flakes to enhance flavor and presentation.
- Serve: Serve the Greek Feta Dip immediately alongside pita chips or crostinis for dipping and spreading.
Notes
- Using block feta rather than crumbled feta yields a smoother texture when whipped.
- Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes according to your heat preference.
- The dip is best served fresh but can be refrigerated, covered, for up to 1 day. Stir gently before serving.
- For a vegan version, substitute cream cheese and feta with plant-based alternatives, though the flavor will differ.
- Adding Kalamata olives is optional but adds a traditional Greek flavor note.
