Ingredients
Scale
Crust
- 1 package Oreo cookies (regular or double stuffed)
- ¾ stick butter (melted)
Filling
- 16 oz. Cool Whip
- 8 oz. cream cheese (softened)
- ½ cup peanut butter
- 1 cup powdered sugar
Topping
- 5.9 oz. instant chocolate pudding
- 3 cups milk (or as indicated on pudding package)
- Crumbled Oreos or chocolate shavings for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare topping Oreos: Set aside about 5 Oreos if you plan to top your pie with crumbled cookies for garnish.
- Make Oreo crumbs: Pulse the remaining Oreos finely in a food processor until they become fine crumbs, or crush them by hand using a zip-top bag and rolling pin.
- Mix crust ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the melted butter with the Oreo crumbs and mix well until the crumbs are fully coated.
- Form crust: Spread the Oreo mixture evenly onto the bottom of a 9 x 13-inch pan and firmly press down to form a compact crust layer.
- Beat cream cheese: In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with an electric mixer until it is smooth and creamy.
- Add filling ingredients: Add half of the Cool Whip, peanut butter, and powdered sugar to the cream cheese. Beat on medium-high speed until the mixture is smooth and well combined. Spread this peanut butter filling evenly over the Oreo crust.
- Prepare pudding layer: In a separate bowl, whisk together the cold milk and instant chocolate pudding mix according to package instructions until thickened. Once set, spread the pudding layer over the peanut butter filling.
- Top with whipped cream: Spread the remaining Cool Whip evenly over the pudding layer for a light finish.
- Garnish and chill: Decorate the top of the pie with the reserved crumbled Oreos or chocolate shavings. Chill the pie in the refrigerator for at least two hours before serving to allow it to set properly and enhance flavors.
Notes
- For best results, make sure the cream cheese is softened to room temperature before mixing to avoid lumps.
- You can substitute the Cool Whip with homemade whipped cream if preferred.
- Optional toppings can include chopped peanuts, chocolate chips, or a drizzle of chocolate syrup for extra flair.
- Store any leftovers covered in the refrigerator and consume within 3-4 days for freshness.
- This makes a great make-ahead dessert for parties and potlucks.
