  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 (15.25 oz) box yellow cake mix
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Prepare the filling: In a large bowl, whisk together the pumpkin puree, evaporated milk, sugar, eggs, pumpkin pie spice, and salt until smooth. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  3. Add the cake mix: Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the pumpkin mixture. Do not stir.
  4. Add butter and pecans: Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the top of the cake mix. If using, sprinkle the chopped pecans on top for added crunch and flavor.
  5. Bake: Place in the preheated oven and bake for 50–60 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and set.
