Description

This Viral Gelatin Trick Recipe is a simple and refreshing homemade gelatin dessert made with unflavored gelatin, water, and a touch of natural sweetener and acid for added flavor. It sets quickly in the refrigerator and can be enjoyed as a low-calorie, customizable snack or dessert with a pleasantly light texture.

Ingredients

Scale

Gelatin Mixture

  • 1 cup water (½ cup hot, ½ cup cold)
  • 1 tablespoon unflavored gelatin (1 packet if using Knox)
  • 12 teaspoons apple cider vinegar or fresh lemon juice (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon honey or stevia (or sweetener of choice)

Instructions

  1. Heat water: Heat ½ cup of water until it is steaming but not boiling, ensuring the gelatin will dissolve properly without degrading.
  2. Dissolve gelatin: Slowly sprinkle the unflavored gelatin over the hot water while stirring continuously until the gelatin is fully dissolved and the mixture becomes slightly foamy, which is normal.
  3. Add acid and sweetener: Stir in the apple cider vinegar or fresh lemon juice, and the sweetener of your choice like honey or stevia, blending thoroughly for balanced flavor.
  4. Cool mixture: Pour the remaining ½ cup of cold water into the gelatin mixture to cool it down and prepare it for setting.
  5. Pour into mold: Transfer the gelatin mixture into a glass dish or silicone mold for easy setting and removal.
  6. Refrigerate: Refrigerate the gelatin for at least 2 hours or until it is fully set and firm to the touch.
  7. Serve and store: Cut the set gelatin into cubes and store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator; consume within 5 days for best freshness.

Notes

  • Do not boil the water to preserve gelatin’s setting properties.
  • The acid (vinegar or lemon juice) is optional but improves texture and flavor.
  • You can customize sweetness with honey, stevia, or any preferred sweetener.
  • Use a silicone mold for easy removal of gelatin shapes.
  • Keep refrigerated and consume within 5 days for optimal taste and safety.
