Scale
Gelatin Mixture
- 1 cup water (½ cup hot, ½ cup cold)
- 1 tablespoon unflavored gelatin (1 packet if using Knox)
- 1–2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar or fresh lemon juice (optional)
- 1 teaspoon honey or stevia (or sweetener of choice)
Instructions
- Heat water: Heat ½ cup of water until it is steaming but not boiling, ensuring the gelatin will dissolve properly without degrading.
- Dissolve gelatin: Slowly sprinkle the unflavored gelatin over the hot water while stirring continuously until the gelatin is fully dissolved and the mixture becomes slightly foamy, which is normal.
- Add acid and sweetener: Stir in the apple cider vinegar or fresh lemon juice, and the sweetener of your choice like honey or stevia, blending thoroughly for balanced flavor.
- Cool mixture: Pour the remaining ½ cup of cold water into the gelatin mixture to cool it down and prepare it for setting.
- Pour into mold: Transfer the gelatin mixture into a glass dish or silicone mold for easy setting and removal.
- Refrigerate: Refrigerate the gelatin for at least 2 hours or until it is fully set and firm to the touch.
- Serve and store: Cut the set gelatin into cubes and store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator; consume within 5 days for best freshness.
Notes
- Do not boil the water to preserve gelatin’s setting properties.
- The acid (vinegar or lemon juice) is optional but improves texture and flavor.
- You can customize sweetness with honey, stevia, or any preferred sweetener.
- Use a silicone mold for easy removal of gelatin shapes.
- Keep refrigerated and consume within 5 days for optimal taste and safety.
