Description

Celebrate Valentine’s Day with this delightful Valentine’s Day Cookie Skillet featuring a buttery, chewy chocolate chip cookie baked in a cast iron skillet and topped with heart-shaped chocolates. Perfect for sharing or enjoying warm with vanilla ice cream, melted chocolate drizzle, or whipped cream.

Ingredients

Scale

Cookie Dough

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 810 heart-shaped chocolates (milk or dark, pink candies optional)

Optional Toppings

  • Vanilla ice cream
  • Melted chocolate drizzle
  • Whipped cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prep: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 10-inch cast iron skillet with butter or non-stick spray to prevent sticking during baking.
  2. Make the Cookie Dough: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, packed brown sugar, and granulated sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy, which should take about 2–3 minutes. Then add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until fully incorporated.
  3. Add the Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture into the wet ingredients, stirring gently just until combined. Be careful not to overmix to maintain tenderness.
  4. Fold in Chocolate Chips: Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips evenly into the cookie dough using a spatula or wooden spoon, ensuring even distribution.
  5. Press into Skillet: Transfer the prepared cookie dough into the greased 10-inch cast iron skillet. Use your hands or a spatula to press the dough into an even layer, smoothing the surface as needed.
  6. Top with Heart Chocolates: Gently press the heart-shaped chocolates and any optional pink candies evenly into the top surface of the dough, avoiding pressing them too deep as they will melt slightly when baked.
  7. Bake: Place the skillet in the preheated oven and bake for 25–30 minutes until the edges are golden brown and the center looks just set but still soft to achieve a chewy texture.
  8. Cool Slightly & Serve Warm: Remove the skillet from the oven and let it cool for 5–10 minutes. Serve warm, optionally topped with scoops of vanilla ice cream, melted chocolate drizzle, or whipped cream straight from the skillet.

Notes

  • Use a well-seasoned cast iron skillet for best results to prevent sticking.
  • Don’t overbake; the center should remain soft for a chewy texture.
  • Optional toppings such as vanilla ice cream, melted chocolate drizzle, or whipped cream add extra indulgence.
  • Be gentle when adding the heart-shaped chocolates so they melt nicely without sinking completely.
  • Store leftovers covered at room temperature for up to 2 days; reheat briefly for a warm treat.
