  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

Xango is a crispy, deep-fried cheesecake dessert wrapped in a flour tortilla and coated in cinnamon sugar. This decadent treat is often served with caramel sauce, chocolate drizzle, or whipped cream. It’s crunchy on the outside, creamy on the inside, and absolutely irresistible!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup whipped cream
  • ½ cup caramel sauce (for serving)
  • ½ cup chocolate sauce (for serving)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar + 1 teaspoon cinnamon (for coating)
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the filling: In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until smooth.
  2. Assemble the Xango: Evenly spread the cream cheese mixture onto each tortilla. Roll them up tightly like burritos, tucking in the edges to seal.
  3. Chill: Place the rolled tortillas in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes to firm up.
  4. Heat oil: In a deep skillet or fryer, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Fry: Carefully place the rolled tortillas into the hot oil and fry for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on a paper towel.
  6. Coat in cinnamon sugar: Mix granulated sugar and cinnamon in a shallow dish. Roll the warm fried tortillas in the mixture to coat evenly.
  7. Serve: Drizzle with caramel and chocolate sauce, and add a dollop of whipped cream. Enjoy warm!

Notes

  • You can bake Xangos at 375°F (190°C) for 12-15 minutes instead of frying for a lighter option.
  • Try adding a fruit filling like strawberries or bananas for extra flavor.
  • Best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in the fridge and reheated in an air fryer for crispiness.
